I am rereading 1984 and also reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. The Rise and Fall is a history of Hitler's takeover of the German government, and people in the convicted felon Trump's administration have clearly read it. It is like a playbook for the takeover of the government and the establishment of a Nazi dictatorship. After WW II many of the Nazi leaders were tried for war crimes by an international tribunal and punished for their roles, some by execution. The current American administration had declared we are at war and have used that claim to evoke certain war time powers. I wonder if some day we will be trying them for war crimes. Domestically, their violation of the constitution is certainly an infringement of out civil rights and wonder if it can rise to the level of a criminal violation and not just a civil violation. They must be punished for what they are doing. If they are let off in the name of national healing or some such nonsense what is to stop the next group from trying to end our democracy and nullify the constitution?
