A government agency’s website now greets visitors with a message blaming the “radical left in Congress” with the shutdown of the federal government.
“The Radical Left in Congress shut down the government,” a pop-up message reads on U.S. Housing and Urban Development’s [HUD] website. “HUD will use available resources to help Americans in need.”
Liberal influencers and Democratic elected officials criticized the message, claiming it violates the law preventing the government and government officials from engaging in political activity.
“This is absolutely a violation of the HATCH act and must be investigated immediately,” tweeted liberal influencer Brian Krassenstein. “The Hatch Act bars executive branch officials from engaging in political campaign activity while acting in their official capacity. Agency websites, run with taxpayer money, must remain non-partisan and strictly informational.”
The organization Democracy Forward said it is probing the pop-up.
“There are laws in place to keep federal agencies nonpartisan,” the group tweeted “This is not just unAmerican – it’s unlawful. That’s why we’ve launched an investigation."
Democratic strategist Vanessa Brito railed against the “propaganda.”
“Embedding partisan propaganda on a federal site is dangerous & likely illegal,” she tweted. “To the far right: you just opened the door for the same weapon to be used against you.”

Here is a fact lost on MAGA. If the Democrats were to agree to the Republican CR, everyone without insurance including the undocumented worker would still be able to get some free care at all hospitals. That is the law and the Republican CR does not change this. But if the Democrats were to agree to the CR, millions of US citizens will lose their ACA insurance leaving hospitals to raise rates on insured people to cover the costs. So get it right MAGA, end ACA and all those US citizens now without insurance will seek free care at the hospitals. And MAGA you will pay for it with higher rates for hospital care.
