WHERE WAS BRISCOE MOTOR PARTS WAY BACK WHEN?
(Ed.'s Note: A reader sent us this old photo of Brownsville Street Dept. workers doing their cleanup duty. Does anyone know where this auto parts store used to be and what year it might have been? There is a cupola visible in the upper middle background. Is that Market Square? It appears to be a photo taken during the 1930s, perhaps during the Great Depression when public works projects were used to help people without work make a few dollars.)

My guess is that the building behind the sign is La Joya (Rosser's building. Therefore,
the picture is on the corner of
Levee ST and 13th ST.
Little has changed. Lots of city employees with tools....none working.
Corner of E. 13th & E. Levee Streets where Central Motor Supply was. You can See Roser Custom Croker Office in the background.
Ahi van Jim y Nena Farton en la camioneta. Asi de viejos estan los rucos esos
In the eyes of those of us who live elsewhere in Texas, this photo depicts today's Brownsville.
At the very least, the city workers are walking and carrying a broom. In San Bene they cruise around town in new trucks with the a/c full blast talking on their cell phones like they are in no hurry to get anywhere.
siguen sin jalar desde 1930 por eso la cuidad esta como esta.puro pelado HUEVON falta de lider.sr alcalde haga algo antes que termine su mandato NO SEA HUEVON.
Long live the Huevones class .Que. bonito es hacer nada y despĂșes descansar. An old Naco proverb.39

Looks like a younger version of PUB, 6 of them watching 1 work, if you squint hard enough, grandpa is holding a push broom!
This is E Levee at 13th St. The building on right is Moody Hotel and behind sign is Al Roser's "The Gem" or Joya/ The tip of the building where sky is is Miller Hotel. ~ Javier R Garcia

Da mayor was disguised as a week-end street sweeper. He was wearing his street-sweeper G-string.
