Employees at the Cameron County District Clerk's Office have been wondering on the whereabouts of Deputy District Clerk Elvira Ortiz after she lost the runoff election for that office to her coworker Eric Garza.
Now, apparently, her boss Aurora De la Garza has been wondering also.
In fact, employees at that office were miffed before the election when Ortiz would take off with her husband Roger Ortiz (former elections administrator) to campaign across the county for clerk.
Ortiz was a surprise runoff candidate against Garza when she out- polled eida Ruth Soto-Grantland, Rosie Sheldon Sotelo, and the late Enrique Escobedo in the March 4 primary.
However, many wondered whether she could run a countywide race while at the same time holding down her job at the district clerk's position.
Now, two weeks after the May 27 runoff election, county employees are wondering whether she has accrued so much sick and vacation time that she can just stay away as long as she deems it appropriate. Granted, running a countywide race for the primary and then running for another three months for the runoff is bound to take a toll on body and soul.
But Judging from her boss De la Gaza's request for advice from the county's legal counsel her co-workers aren't the only ones wondering whether she should get back to her taxpayer-funded employment.

We call this : Naco re-cycling . The latest discovery made at the Cameron Courthouse.
Aurora de la Garza is one of the most corrupt officials in Cameron County government and has been a major player in judicial corruption for years. We can't expect her, as a "lame duck" District Clerk to be a player....to protect herself from investigation. Roger Ortiz and his wife both are players in Democratic Party corruption in the County and are probably licking their wounds behind some bush. Aurora and the Ortiz couple are scum and are trying to seep into some hole in the toilet at this point.
Typical Cameron County. Everybody feels they are entitled to something.
And we can call this sourpuss tax dollar employee MAMONA.
Hummn. I see her there very often. Just something else to complain about.
I've seen her there you people need to know the facts before you judge
Like the Pope said, "who am I to judge".
