LAND O'LAKES FOLKS REACT: PAINT OVER ANTI-COP GRAFFITI

(Ed.'s Note: This wall, on an alley on Creekbend, bore  graffiti offensive graffiti to the Brownsville Police Department who brushed it off as a prank. It is interesting to note that the home of former City Manager Charlie Cabler is just a few houses left at the end of this alley. Before he was city manager, Cabler was a cop and later a police commander.

Now we have been sent this photo that seems to show that local residents took it into their own hands to paint over the offensive remark. Several readers sent comments to this blog and we reprint them below:

Thank You Juan, (El Rrun-Rrun). You just may have prevented a tragedy waiting to happen. Because of your post, the fence and terroristic sign has been covered with paint. You saved law enforcement lives. They owe much gratitude to you. As professionals in this neighborhood, we are happy the sign is gone. Thank You again Juan! To all law enforcement personnel, Be Safe, Happy Holidays.NOVEMBER 13, 2017 AT 2:17 PM

Mr. Montoya, lots of thanks to your blog. I had never read your blog before. I was told by your readers that you had a say through your blog in covering the terroristic sign in our neighborhood. It had been there for months and nobody seem to care one way or another. Now it's gone and the neighborhood is happy! Along the way, you just may have saved everybody a horrific tragedy and an officers (BPD'S) life. Thank you for the coverage. I live on Creekbend and will start covering your blog along with our neighbors. Thank You Sir!NOVEMBER 13, 2017 AT 4:19 PM

Interesting that BPD blew this off as a prank.....a good way to avoid an investigation that might lead to a punk kid of a "professional". Which means to me they know who did this. While the neighbors call it a "terroristic" threat and praise you for your reporting.....sounds to me like they know who did it too, and seek to rave as a smoke screen to avoid more reporting on a neighborhood terrorist.

Those new followers are in for a rude awakening when they find out who their neighbors really are. Yes we live among Brownsville's cream Of the crap here on creekbend.

Mr. Montoya, I am a new follower to your blog and i live on Creekbend not far from where the unsavory sign existed for months. What surprises me is that Charlie Cabler (A former BPD officer himself and City Manager) also lives around the corner. There's no way he didn't know about it and stood and did nothing, so much for LOYALTY to his fellow officers. Thank god a tragedy did not occur on any BPD officer. There's mostly professional people in our neighborhood but, i must admit, there's also some weird one's. The perpetrator is still out there, somewhere in this very neighborhood. Having a well to do life style can sometimes be counter productive. We hope the BPD patrols this area more offen and catches up to whoever was so mentally unstable to put this horrible sign up. For the most part, residents here keep to themselves in a very quiet neighborhood. The most excitement here are people that walk or walk their dogs but, you have mentally unstable people in all walks of life. Glad sign is down. Thanks...

Just because the graffiti was painted over doesn't mean the threat is gone. Whoever wrote that must be taken into custody, investigated, drilled with questioning.

That would be preventive police work - rather than reactive police work.

Reactive police work puts ALL of us in danger.

Funny how we rarely see the PD around land o lakes

What is so special about the location? Our city is so filthy that everywhere you go you find vandalism like this but who is doing anything about it? Instead of having all the police cars parked at the officer's house all day long, why not get a dummy to drive around town and find those who deface someone else's property. I must say that those vandals who deface the railroad cars, at la Muralla, have much more artistic talent then those that frequent Land of Lakes! Ha!

Sonething is special cause they have new asphalt, sidewalks, their street gets swept and the mosquito sprayer visits often.
Oh let me guess WE pay property taxes and vote!
