A POTHOLE YOU WANT THE CITY TO FIX? FUHGEDDABOUDIT!

(Ed's. Note: How many times have you swerved in traffic to avoid the nasty pothole on your street that never seems to get fixed by the city crews? Calls to the city usually result in dispatchers telling you that you will have to wait your turn until your street comes up in the rotation. But if it's a cracked sidewalk on the bike trail, the crews will be out pronto to take care of it post haste. We are in awe of the priorities that the city has placed upon these little used bike and hike trails to satisfy a small number of people while placing the needs of the whole on the back burner.

The same goes for the budgetary allotments that are funneled to these projects. Every time that  Certificates Of Obligation (COs) are issued 10 percent of the total goes to Gowen's pet projects. It must be nice to have millions at your disposal courtesy of the taxpayer to make them happen. So Tito can tank Tony and Rose for their benevolence not realizing that it is the average Jose, not them, that is paying through the nose for the bike trails. So next time you have to swerve to avoid that pothole, think of the nice bike trail that will get fixed as soon as it shows a crack.)

We reakky need more potholes.
It's like having speed bumps.
Vehicular traffic is awful.
Most drivers are in a rush.

Shut up, you fucking Mexican! Progress, puto! Your carcachas aren't worth new streets, culo!

The last sentence of your first paragraph is a perfect description of the city management during the tenure of Mayor Tony Martinez.....government that benefits the few (especially his friends) while the majority pays for these "pet projects". Tony is ignorant of the needs of the majority, is too focused on downtown projects at the cost of the rest of the city. He thinks downtown is the center of the city....it is not. Brownsville is "sinful" city....full of fat people and all of them are having sex.

Nothing but a clown town. A bunch of clowns (commissioners) butchering the budget to benefit their appetites and their families and friends.

Grateful Ass kissers Lol

Mata lives on that street that had that threat to Brownsville PD. That people on that street have some real pull.

Ugh that guy should be concerned about the pothole up his ass

Pito Mata is an idiot.

Does anyone know if Gowen rides her bike to the commissioner's meeting? To HEB? What about Tony? Palm Blvd by Ebony and Rio Viejo streets are so so smooth to drive on, but who goes to that part of town? If you can't fix the pot holes, how about at least cleaning up the mess that is thrown on the streets and expressway. We are the dirtest town, as well as the most criminal town in Texas. Oh how they didn't mention that new award the Brownsville was entitled with - most criminal? And they meant the elected officials.

Mata is an idiot! Sure wish the Herald would quit taking his picture every time a little girls team wins anything . Every time a little girls team poses for a picture , there's the idiot ! Looks creepy !

Like my friend Bobby "La Chancla Peluda" says: "They are just running cover".

It's really all about the boys.

Mata is a pervert. Use to check out his daughters friends when she was in high school. Creep.

You could help end your kid's diabetes by pulling the frito nachos and video game controller from his hands, and take him for a walk on the family trails that are out there waiting for you.

You could step away from the keyboard. Get on a bike, a skateboard, roller skates, roller blades, or just put one foot in front of the other to enjoy the beautiful weather outside, on trails that are safe and protected.

But no, the complainers will waste this perfect day and never see the exotic birds that have flown thousands of miles to flock above us. Never see the sun setting this evening. Never meet the other kids and families on the trail, the bikers, the runners, pick lemons and limes and papaya growing wild along the paths, or point out the owls, lizards, butterflies, herons and exotic species that inhabit our community, that our grandparents and great-grandparents knew by sight and by call. Never try the homemade honey and baked bread made by their neighbors, from local grown backyard herbs, and miss the night walks to watch the meteor shower and the super moons, nature's fireworks above us. Eyes glued to the screen, angry fingers bitterly typing away, staring at a screen.

You complain about the waste of money, while we sigh at the sad waste of your life.

Maybe the potholes are the reason he hit a commissioner's parked car and tried to lie about it! Tito, you are a disgraced loser.

To get there you need to navigate your vehicle to avoid a million pot holes, get a red light at every corner, try to avoid the motorcycle gang giving everybody traffic tickets, and if you do parking is at a premium and be sure to lock your car and try to park near no other vehicle. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Make sure you take a flashlight, mosquito repellent, and baseball bat. When I got back somebody stole my bike rack from the back of my car. Thanks for your stupid ideas. If you want to buy a bike stop by a store close to the bike trails. The only cost $1000.00, and you only get paid minimum wages. Bring better paying jobs NOT BIKE TRAILS pendejetes.

What does a trail have to do with your "stupid" mistakes? It's a trail; of course you may need a flashlight, repellent or even a bat!

However, YOU forgot to secure your bike rack! Stupid mistake!

Minimum wage? Should have stuck it out in school and given it "YOUR best". Stupid mistake!

Buying a bike that YOU cannot afford or spending more than YOU make? Stupid mistake!

Catering to an elite group in this town is a bigger mistake and hopefully we the majority will no longer have to put up with commissioners that spend taxpayers money irresponsibly and without any conscious for the needs of the majority of this community. Electing someone like YOU has been a MAJOR BLUNDER, and has set this community back to where we were in the 50's.

It's call priorities in spending taxpayers monies but of course what do you know about any of this. It's like defending the purchase of Cadillac when you can't afford the fuel, but you can do this if the money is not yours. Reminds me of a little brat in a candy store going into uncontrollable berrinches because SHE didn't get what she wanted. She now tries to justify her actions.

The bike trail should be well lit and sprayed for mosquitos and also secured. It should not be like going out in the woods. If you know anything about bike racks they are installed on the car trunk with tie downs they are not welded on the truck. The majority of students work during the summer but what do you know about this. Good paying jobs are essential to continue your education. But what do you know about this? NADA! In YOUR bike trail shops cater to the elite not to local average citizens. In other words shopping at wal mart is the only place to purchase a bike at a good afforable price, but what do you know about this? The only MISTAKE here is YOU hopefully you will not be re-elected.

No bike trail in the world is lit 100%, free of mosquitos/bugs or completely "secure".

Simple trick for trunk mounted racks.....unmount them and store them away.

Purchase the bike you can afford at the time, or the place you can afford. "Elite" shops per se, are in their right to charge as they see fit. They either make money or go under; their prerogative.

No wonder nobody uses these "STUPID USELESS" bike trails. With that kind of an attitude it was doomed to fail. It's a reflection on that stupid commissioner who thought of this stupid idea. Who said anything about 100%, what stupidity. If I were to use these stupid bike trails I would use them to go biking not to perform tricks. Last time I checked this is the good old USA and anybody can open up a business anywhere even if they know it will go under. The elite can only finance these shops for a limited time, unless this stupid commissioner purchases bikes for every city employee and at the expense of your tax dollars see if you like that.
