5TH COVID-19 RELATED DEATH, 279 CASES: BELIEVE IT NOW?

(Ed.'s Note: It appears that the exponential contagion predicted for South Texas as the COVID-19 plague spreads through the country is reaching its full bloom here. Just a month ago (March 18) there were rumors of two positive cases in Cameron County of a couple who lived on South Padre Island and went back to Michigan.

Apart from that, the one confirmed positive case was a Rancho Viejo resident who traveled in a group to Spain and Ireland. The first confirmed death that of an 81-year-old Veranda Rest Home and Rehab resident in Harlingen was about three weeks later, on April 6.

The case was pretty much the same across Texas. (See graphic.)

Then the virus took off. And it hasn't stopped yet.

Today (Friday, April 18),  the county confirmed its fifth-COVID-19 related death. The number of positive COVID-19 cases in the county is 279 and nine additional reports were reported by the Cameron County Health Dept.since yesterday. The contagion, obviously, is in full force. Now more than ever, the Stay and Home and Shelter in Place orders take on a crucial importance. And a lack of face covering will earn you a citation from law enforcement across all of South Texas.

The death of the 77-year old man from Los Fresnos is the first death from a community transmission, according to a news release issued by the county.

“It saddens me that we have lost another individual from our community to this deadly virus and, unfortunately, this individual is our first community transmission death and not related to the nursing home cases,” Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. stated in the release. “Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”

Meanwhile, seven more people in Hidalgo County tested positive for COVID-19 while three individuals were cleared and released from isolation, officials reported Friday.

The newly positive individuals reside in Palmview, McAllen, Edinburg, Hidalgo and Alamo.

The degree to which the USA stalled in taking aggressive action to curtail the spread of COVID-19 is directly the product of an administration marked by consistently poor timing, intent on making decisions in favor of economic interests instead of those that are guided by science and to protect health.

The rush to reopen the country puts dollars over deaths.

Trump is to blame.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, is dying to re-open the state. He's clueless.

Testing, testing, testing. One reopens when you can test contact trace and isolate/quarantine. You also need personal protection, in short supply. But testing comes first. And without testing, Trump’s aspirational bullshit about the virus just going away won’t happen.

Texas isn't testing, not the entire state.

Puro pinche pedo de King Trevino! The low deaths here at Cameron are deaths from other causes, but included as virus deaths. I don't even think there's even deaths...they don't even mention names. Just take their word! The Government ever lies! Government just trying to take away our liberties/Rights with the excuse of protecting us. People wake up! We are never going back the way we were! They are on porpose killing the encomony, and spending money like never before in history, with the intention of rolling out a New World Order!

President Trump on Friday openly encouraged right-wing protests, like one planned in Texas.

The shit storm is just beginning. We have a psychotic person in charge of our country with an insatiable fetish for creating more havoc every passing day. As the elections get closer expect more and bigger outrageous events to occur.
This idea that the coronavirus is going to go away just because this fool said so is ludicrous. From this point forward, if anyone in their right mind believes this garbage, then they should think seriously about getting some psychological counseling and get on some sort of anti psychotic meds...perhaps Thorazine or Lithium!

11:44: that is a lie. They do list names and some of us knew these people. Stop being a pendejo twisting facts to suit your feelings.but King Treviño is worried mostly about golfers and people in their cars listening to church sermons and others following the rules than he is knowing how many beds and ventilators there are. And all these greedy babosos who wrote checks to him last time he ran against a REAL county judge and leader are bitching now.

@10:09 OK pendejito, what are the names/ages puto? Did you go to the funerals? Oh! I forgot! No normal funerals allowed. The deaths in the valley son puro viejitos probably died of other causes. King Trevino is salivating waiting for his cut from the government for being a good puppet! Wake up people it can't be more clearer! Don't be like the commenter @10:09pm who enjoys getting it from behind from the government!
