Later, when Lopez Sr. moved it to Paredes Line Road and, even later, to Central Blvd., Jerry helped his dad run the business. His latest venture into the business was operating George Gavito's Barrel Lounge next to the Oyster Bar which burned down a few years ago.
We now learn that he has come down with a colon ailment and is in dire need of emergency surgery. His friends have reached out to us and asked that we let our seven readers know that they will hold a BBQ chicken plate fundraiser this Saturday at the Escondido Bar at 1228 E. 14th Street. Plates are $8 and are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Here's wishing Jerry the best and encouraging his friends to stop by and assist him in his hour of need. We thank you in advance. Animo, Jerry!)

Thank you Juan Montoya for putting this announcement on your blog. Community our friend needs our support. When 2 or more are gathered God is there.
How did roy de los santos get his minion bryan martinez a $75,000 salary with the city for “marketing”? That bryan kid doesn’t do anything and our tax dollars are paying him a hefty salary plus additional thousands of dollars on bs side projects roy administers
Time to clean house. Vote all current city commissioners out of office.

We have only so much sympathy to give out in this town.
You post these sob stories too-often, Montoya.
Good luck!🍀 My prayers are with you.
